Merienda, Immersive Artists' Talk & Culinary Event

DVAA's Krause Recital Hall

Saturday, October 29th, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

This program is a special culinary accompaniment to the exhibition, Subterranean— on view through October 30th.

Smell is the most evocative of senses— with the capacity to resurrect long-submerged memories and feelings. Artist Francis Estrada, who incorporates the culinary arts in his practice, will offer foods from his and Jamie Kim’s youth – merienda (meaning "a light meal") – as an invitation to experience memory, family, and history through nourishment.

Join us for an immersive artists' talk and culinary event prepared by exhibition artists Jamie Kim and Francis Estrada. Kim and Estrada will discuss the intersections of visual art, and culinary practices as participants experience a curated menu of delicacies shaped by the diaspora.

This is a ticketed event, limited capacity, $15 per person.
